how hybrid learning works
Hybrid learning combines in-class instruction and at-home learning. This allows us to limit the number of students in the building each day for safe social distancing, while still ensuring that students can benefit from direct interaction with teachers and peers.
At the beginning of the school year, each team will hold a virtual townhall to showcase and explain the educational apps that will be used this school year.
Important characteristics of hybrid learning
INSTRUCTION AT THE SCHOOL BUILDING
During days at the school building, teachers will provide direct whole-class instruction and small-group instruction. These days will be used primarily to introduce new topics, provide small group and one-on-one instructional support, and conduct assessments to monitor student progress towards standards. Built into the routines of the class day, students will be required to clean their computers and other equipment touched in any of the classes, including physical education. They must also clean their desks and chairs at the end of the day using the the wipes provided by the school.
Families who prefer that their student not have instruction at the school building should call or text 929-322-4471 and leave the parent name, student name, best phone number to be reached, and state that 100% at home classes on the computer are requested. These students will be scheduled for full-remote learning.
REMOTE INSTRUCTION
Students will be assigned additional activities to work on independently during their at-home learning days. These activities will allow students to apply and practice what they learned in class. There may be a combination of technology-based learning activities and offline worksheets, projects, and writing assignments. At-home learning activities are an important part of the learning process and will be graded.

OFFICE HOURS
Teachers and intervention specialists will have limited virtual "office hours" on Google Classroom. They will be available during throughout the week, but each teacher will have different hours. Students will be notified of these available office hours at the start of the school year. These office hours are specifically for students who have questions or need extra support to help with at-home learning assignments.
